On Wednesday 20 May, Bayes Business School and the Greek Energy Forum (GEF) co-hosted a panel discussion on “Markets in Flux: Uncertainty and the Role of Oil & Gas in the Energy Transition”.

This event featured discussions on how shifting geopolitical dynamics are influencing global energy movements, alongside the knock-on effects of supply chain disruptions on pricing and market resilience. It also examined the impact of uncertainty on investment choices across the sector, and considered how these pressures are shaping the pace of the energy transition, redefining the role of traditional fuels, and driving strategic adjustments within energy companies.

In his academic capacity, Dr Ioannis Moutzouris, theme lead for the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub and Academic Director of the GEF (London), spoke on related research at the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub.

Dr Moutzouris also focused on how geopolitical shocks affect shipping’s net zero transition and how clean energy sources and fuels can enhance energy security.
