Co-Developing Decarbonisation Plans

The Co-Innovation Impact group (CIIG), composed of the Hub’s director and co-directors, academic theme leads, and port contacts, strives to reflect upon and influence the work of the exploration and responsive research programmes. The CIIG is co-developing regional innovation and decarbonisation plans with industrial partners for selected place-based, port-centric scenarios. Via a series of 3 technical sprints, the CIIG will look at decarbonisation opportunities with a focus on 2030, 2040 and 2050 timeframes.

Port-scenarios, selected to reflect geographical locations, communities, maritime activities, infrastructure, services and cargo types, are composed of:

  1. The Port of Felixstowe (predominantly container cargo)
  2. The Port of Dover (predominantly Roll-on/Roll-off)
  3. PD Ports: Teesport (predominantly liquid bulk cargo)
  4. Belfast Harbour (predominantly dry bulk cargo)
  5. Peel Ports: Port of Liverpool (mixed cargo)
