Summary:
This project will demonstrate the operation of a novel sensing system for precision tracking of cryogenic liquid ammonia. Durham University will partner with two industry leaders: ATGrating (a sensing expert) and MOL (a global maritime giant) to develop a calibrated sensing system and install it in a test rig simulating maritime conditions.
By effectively capturing liquid sloshing dynamics, the study will inform the design of safer, more reliable fuel storage units for future decarbonised ammonia Floating Storage Regasification Units (FSRUs).
