Summary:
Wave energy is an elusive and challenging field of the energy paradigm. The Dolphin device EP 2952732 is designed to unlock that potential. During operation, sea water is allowed to access and exit the system through an advanced set of shutter valves that open and close in alternating manner in synchronism with the upward and downward movement of sea waves to spin a vertical axis turbine. In this proof-of-concept project, a small-scale prototype of the Dolphin device will be manufactured, instrumented and tested under typical port conditions. Opportunities for structural and energy gathering capability optimisation will be identified.
