Summary:
The H2O COLORADO project investigates a promising and novel method for drag reduction (DR) on ships through water injection beneath the hull within the turbulent boundary layer (TBL). Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations will be conducted at varying Froude numbers and injection ratios.
The H2O COLORADO project aims to 1) quantify the relationship between water injection and DR, 2) understand the influence of injected water on the overall TBL, and 3) develop a non-dimensional prediction model for DR.
This research will significantly improve the understanding of fluid injected drag reduction, and meaningfully improve overall vessel efficiency
